This Article is about the battery less wireless switch. Know where the switch gets energy for operation, what is the advantage and cost of the switch
A recent invention in the University of Alberta in Wdmonton, Alberta, Canada will make homes more affordable, more energy efficient and use less raw material.
Director of Electrical Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Kambiz Moez has invented a battery less wireless switch. The switch derives energy needed for operation from ambient sources like radio frequency signals.
According to Kambiz Moez each floor in a house is equipped with one or two radio frequency power transmitters from the switch will obtain the energy for operation
With th utilization of these switches will decrease the amount of energy needed to produce the materilas like copper or aluminium for making wires, making rubber for insulating the wires.
The cost of preparing the prototype of the switch is less than 1 dollar and the switch can also be customized to meet the requirements of home owners, contractors and regulators.
Moez’s vision goes beyond just a wireless, battery-powered light switch. His vision is for a smart home that puts energy efficiency at the top of the list. His idea involves using sensors to monitor temperature, humidity and occupancy to enable automatic adjustments that improve comfort and lower energy consumption.
